Congratulations Mr. Cub!

On May 15th Ernie Banks will be honored with MLB's Beacon of Life award as "an individual who embodies the soul of the civil rights movement through his life pursuits". Mr. Banks operates the "Ernie Banks Live Above and Beyond Foundation" with his wife Liz. The Foundation promotes social welfare to improve the lives of children and senior citizens in underprivleged neighborhoods by enhancing them and relieving age and race discrimination.

Mr. Banks will join Morgan Freeman and Carlos Santana who are being awarded the Beacon of Hope and Beacon of Change, respectively, for their works.

Congratulations Mr. Banks, the Cubs(C) and the fans are proud of you.

Garza to start against Sox today

Matt Garza will make his sixth Spring Training start today against the White Sox (C). The Cubs(C) won't meet up with their cross-town rivals until June at US Cellular Field and July at Wrigley Field so this preview will tell Mike Quade and Ozzie Guillen what each team needs to work on.

Reservations are still available for the Sox visit to Wrigely Field on July 1, 2 & 3.

Cubs(C) team chemistry developing well.

The Cubs(C) are using Spring Training not only to work on their skills, but also to work on the team dynamic. Seemingly small things, like Ryan Dempster spending his day off watching the rest of the team take on the Angels in the rain, develops the chemistry needed between the players. Hopefully all the hard work that's been going on in Spring Training, both on and off the field, will pay off when the Cubs(C) return to Wrigley Field on April 1st.

Quad and others working on roster

Mike Quade, Jim Hendry, and the pitching coaches will sit down to put together the roster today and a lot of questions will be answered. We can't wait to see the Cubs (c) back at Wrigley Field!

Quade looking at more than numbers

Mike Quade is paying special attention to the health of the pitchers contending for spots in the rotation. While ERA's are important, Quade is looking for a rotation he's "happy with". If the improvement in the Cubs(C) performance at the end of 2010 is any indication then Quade knows exactly what he's looking for in his pitchers. We all look forward to seeing all the hard work pay off when the Cubs(C) return to Wrigley.
